"Life is a hospital in which every patient is obsessed with changing beds. This one wants to suffer in front of the radiator, and that one thinks he'd get better if he was by the window" - Baudelaire
Inspired by Alain de Botton's 'Art of Travel' 'Getaway (from yourself' is about the illusion of travel, and how images of 'blue skies and paradise' make us want to be somewhere far away - 'on the other side of the fence', but actually we can never escape from who we are. Or as Confucius said, 'Wherever you go, there you are.'
lyrics
Woa-woa I am just praying for summer.
Take me out of the smog and all this freezing cold weather.
I dunno what I'm going to find in Guangzhou,
but I know that it’s better than staying at home.
I'm so sick of these walls and I'm reaching the brink.
I can't be bothered to clean the kitchen sink.
**Chorus**
But I dunno ...where I wanna go.
I got this song stuck in my head,
I gotta be on the other side of the fence,
and maybe then I'll find … some peace of mind,
cos it seems that standing still always makes me ill.
Woa-woa I'm so sick of the summer,
and the 9 to 5 has put me into a coma.
I dont care what I'm going to find in Dubai,
but I just need to launch myself into the sky,
In the hope that I land miles from here.
Maybe then I’ll forget about all of my fears.
**Chorus**
But I dunno ...where I wanna go.
I got this song stuck in my head,
I gotta be on the other side of the fence,
and maybe then I'll find … some peace of mind,
cos it seems that standing still always makes me ill.
So you’re thinking that the distance is gonna make a difference,
but the blue skies and paradise won’t take away the fact that
you’ll never get away from yourself! Get away from yourself!
